Are You With Us?

As we move ever closer to meeting the Helimission flight requirements and towards adoption I need to ask – Are you with us? Because plenty of people think we’re crazy for the life we’ve chosen and have no problem telling us so.

Do you understand why Ben would work so hard for so many years to take his family overseas and work for free flying missionaries and doctors to remote locations at the very point in his career that he would qualify for well paid pilot jobs here in the US? Do you understand he isn’t throwing all his hard work away?

On the adoption front, do you understand that our desire to be parents isn’t to build a perfect little family? Ben and I are both broken people restored by a forgiving God. We are wayward children welcomed home by a loving Father. Do you understand that we deeply desire every part of our existence, family included, to be a part of seeing lives made whole?

When everything is difficult and scary, will you stand in our corner and fight the demons of the past with us? We are well aware difficulties will come. When we are culturally frustrated and homesick living in another country will you encourage and pray for us?

Here’s the deal, we believe Jesus when he promised rest for the weary and burdened soul. So these choices we make aren’t about sacrifice, but freedom. Choosing to use our talents and experience, lives and love, to make known the One who heals and restores. We’re excited about that! So I lay everything out on the table and ask – Are you with us? Will you walk this road too? There are plenty of people who will think we’re crazy, but so what if they do?

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My load is light." - Jesus
Matthew 11:28-30
